Together however the Mercedes duo CRUSHED the competition winning 16 of 19 races between the two of them.Manny Pacquiao took care of BUSINESS on Sunday in Macau. He DOMINATED Chris Algieri and retained his welterweight title by unanimous decision. Pacquiao did everything but knock out his opponent. There_s not much left to prove for the 35-year-old Pacquiao at this point-unless Floyd Mayweather FINALLY agrees to fight him. Let_s hope that happensAnd the Boston Red Sox appear to be making a BIG splash in the free agent market. Multiple reports are saying the BoSox have signed All-Star infielders Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval. Both deals are believed to be for five years worth nearly two hundred million dollars combined. The 30-year-old Ramirez is a .300 career hitter while the 28-year-old Sandoval has three World Series rings.

The poison is not dangerous to the algae-eating fish and shellfish but CAN affect humans and animals. Unseasonably high temperatures are being blamed for the unprecedented invasion.The warmer than usual Pacific is being blamed for ANOTHER invasion-this time it_s red tuna crabs San Diego beaches are being overrun by millions of the tiny shellfish much to the amusement of locals. The warmer water is pushing the shellfish and other marine life north from the gulf of California. A warning to residents though: experts are telling those with dreams of a seafood feast to stick to store bought as the tuna crabs COULD contain toxins.And finally we speak a lot about the drought in California but a new study claims that a THIRD of the world_s largest water sources are in danger of depletion. Scientists measure stress levels by comparing how much water is being removed versus how much is replenished. At least EIGHT of the water sources had NO water replenishment whatsoever. Isabella the Russian economy has imploded and its currency is in free fall. The Ruble plummeted another 12 percent on Monday thanks to nosediving oil prices and harsh Western sanctions. The currency has lost nearly 50-percent of its value against the dollar this year. In a bid to stop the bleeding Russia_s central bank raised its key interest rate from 10.5 to 17 percent on Tuesday. It_s a desperation move and the higher rates will likely send Russia into a recession. Now to a disturbing find in Brazil. Scientists have discovered a super-bacteria in waters that will host a number of aquatic events in the 2016 Olympics. Researchers taking samples from Flamengo beach near Rio de Janeiro found the superbug which is resistant to most modern medications. The bacteria is normally only found in hospital waste. Here_s the thing nearly 70-percent of Rio_s sewage flows DIRECTLY into nearby Guanabara Bay. In its Olympic bid the city pledged to reduce pollution in the bay by 80 percent. And Denmark is the latest country to lay claim to part of the Arctic. The area in question is nearly 350-thousand square miles of the continental shelf in the Arctic Ocean. Its actually twenty times bigger than Denmark itself. The Scandinavian nation made the claim by filing documents to the United Nations and now joins the battle between Canada Russia and Norway for ownership of the resource rich region. It_s believed the shelf holds 30 percent of the world_s undiscovered natural gas and 15 percent of its oil.

I hear it was a pretty easy choice this week Angie.We always have a few candidates in the mix Kat but this week one stood head and shoulders above the pack - in all the worst ways The members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at the University of Oklahoma. They shamed themselves and everyone else associated with the national fraternity - and the University of Oklahoma. In case you missed it a video came to light a few days ago capturing SAE frat members singing a racist song about when black people might be invited to pledge. Spoiler alert - the answer is never. So yeah. That_s a thing that happened. IN 2015 The source of the shameful 9-second video is unknown but he or she obviously didn_t approve because the vid was passed on to a campus equality group called Unheard. THEY posted it online and it_s made headlines around the world - and rightfully so. You might expect this type of slimy behaviour at a Klan rally but not with supposedly well-educated college kids. As you_d expect the backlash around all this has been fierce. SAE denounced the actions of the Oklahoma chapter apologized and promised to investigate the incident. But that was hardly enough to satisfy most people. OU has dropped the hammer on the frat booting the racist bums from their on-campus house and completely severing ties with SAE. Two of the frat members have been expelled. And to make matters worse another video surfaced this week featuring SAE_s 79-year old house mother. She_d claimed she had no idea the boys in her frat sang songs like that. But the new video says otherwise. It shows her drunk and repeatedly chanting the n-word. Wow what a charming bunchFallout from the video scandal is likely far from over. The OU campus has seen a number of demonstrations against racism this past week. The school_s famous football team even skipped a practice to take part in a protest walking-arm-in-arm while wearing all black. The controversy has even cost the team a top-ranked recruit who changed his mind about being a Sooner. As if the SAE clowns weren_t already hated enough on campus now they_re messing with the school_s famous football program. The storm is stalled over Texas and not going anywhere anytime soon. Here_s the latest. Flood waters from tropical storm Harvey have already affected a quarter of Texas_s population Harvey made landfall as a category 4 hurricane on Friday. By Sunday thousands in the Houston area were forced to seek higher ground. The situation has overwhelmed rescuers. Thing is 50 MORE inches of rain is expected in the Houston area in the coming days. Thousands of National Guard members have been called in and FEMA is openly asking for any able-bodied citizens to assist in rescue efforts. President Trump will visit Texas on Tuesday to get a first-hand look at the situation and ensure that government agencies have the resources they need to keep everyone safe. An engineer who helped develop a device that allowed Volkswagen to lie about vehicle emissions is going to jail 63-year old James Liang is the first person to be prosecuted in the global scandal. The US District Court judge wanted to send a message to the auto industry and gave him an unexpectedly harsh sentence. Liang will do more than three years in prison and face a 200-thousand dollar fine VW_s admitted to installing software in its vehicles that deceived environmental regulators about diesel emissions. The scandal has already cost the automaker 25 billion dollars in the US. And the heir to the Samsung Electronics has been convicted of bribery Samsung chairman Jay Y. Lee has been hit with a five-year prison term. It_s a case that_s gripped South Korea a country dominated by powerful family-run conglomerates. Lee was arrested in February on allegations that he_d bribed then-South Korean president Park Geun-Hye in exchange for help securing control of Samsung. The investigation of the billionaire led to Park_s eventual impeachment and she_s facing a trial for corruption. Lee_s legal team is appealing the sentence. We_ll be right back.

Turns out it WAS a big deal and totally mattered Star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was TERRIBLE and the Giants got blown away by Green Bay at Lambeau Field Things were close in the early going but the turning point came on a hail mary from Aaron Rodgers at the end of the half Unbelievable That was one of Rodgers_ FOUR touchdowns on the day and the Packers won in a rout 38 to 13. Seriously I don_t know how Rodgers does it with the hail marys. His passes always find the open manHe_s amazing. And if you haven_t seen any of the yacht memes on social media do yourself a favor and check them out. TOO funny Things were even more lopsided in the OTHER three games this weekend Steelers running back Le_Veon Bell had 167 yards rushing and two TD_s leading Pittsburgh to a 30 - 12 romp over Miami. But the big story came right at the end of the game when Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger hurt his ankle. He swears he_ll play next week but stay tuned And on Saturday night the Seattle Seahawks made mincemeat out of the Detroit Lions Seattle_s D smothered the Detroit offense and turned this one into a total snoozefest winning 26-6. And last but not least injuries forced the Oakland to start rookie QB Connor Cook in Houston and it went about as well as you_d expect The Raiders struggled to move the ball all game long and the Texans won a laugher 27-14. All-in-all it was the most lopsided slate of wildcard games since 1981 Madison.Okay not great but football fans have a LOT to look forward to next weekend including Kansas City against Pittsburgh and Green Bay at Dallas Can_t wait Let_s switch things up and cover a sport that doesn_t get a ton of love around here: women_s college basketball.We don_t talk about it too often but when we do it_s because something CRAZY happened Things got hardCORE on the hardcourt Saturday night during UNLV_s clash with Utah State Things got heated in the third quarter and then all hell broke loose The two players at the heart of the scrum WERE ejected for fighting and three more from each team were booted for leaving their bench and joining the brawl Both squads had to play shorthanded the rest of the way but UNLV got the last laugh. The Rebels won 55-53 in overtime Can_t wait to see THAT rematch Over in hockey the Dallas Stars got a BIG scare on their way home from St. Louis. A few minutes after takeoff their plane had to perform an emergency landing due to smoke in the cockpit Thankfully they were able to turn around and land safely in St. Louis but up in smoke IS a fitting metaphor for the Stars_ season thus far Soccer_s World Cup is getting bigger but probably not better FIFA_s announced plans to expand the tournament from 32 to 48 countries They_d be broken up into 3 groups of 16. Officials say the move will help the development of the sport around the world but critics think it will only dilute the quality of games.
